Rewards programme is a hit with Credit Union Members

The credEcard Rewards programme is just three months old yet members are already reaping significant cash rebates by using the card on the high street and online.

savingsBased on the average family spend, the direct cash rebate members can earn easily offsets their monthly credEcard fees and latest statistics show that a large number of cardholders are earning on average between £15 and £40 cash reward every month by using  their card when they shop with the programmes retail partners.

A typical example of an active cardholder member who does their weekly shop at Asda and spends £300 within the month will receive a rebate of £12.00 the following month. This £12.00 cash rebate is paid directly to their credEcard account and is clearly shown as a rebate on their online statement so they can relate it to their day-to-day shopping in Asda.

Jackie from Yorkshire is one member who has taken full advantage of the rewards programme.

“The introduction of the credEcard rewards scheme means I can easily offset any fees by using the card when I buy my weekly shopping” says Jackie.

“As a single mum with two children I’ve been using my credEcard for 18 months, mainly to help keep track of my finances and benefit payments. With a low household income, I need to make every penny count so of course if the opportunity comes along to save a bit here and there I jump at the chance.

“I now make a conscious effort to utilise my credEcard whenever I shop and as well as saving on costs I’m starting to earn cash back every month which is ideal when you’re living to a strict budget”

Added value

The rewards programme was introduced to help credit unions provide added value and much needed financial assistance for their members. A welcome side effect has been an increase in cardholder recruitment, which means less administration for staff and a decrease in footfall and queues within the credit union offices.
